Fairtunes: Creating Futures Through Music

www.fairtunes.org  - check out our new website!!!!

In October 2008, Naomi was asked to join Fairtunes, a non-for- profit organizatio whose objective is to provide music and radio  studios for people in impoverished communities. FairTunes aims to specialise in supplying equipment and training, whilst creating opportunities for involvement in music and media.

FairTunes is dedicated to using the power of music to enhance people's lives in developing nations. We intend to set up training programmes and create recording studios and radio facilities in community centres within deprived areas.

Between April and May 2009 Jon Last and Nick Minton went to Bogotá, Colombia to build a small recording studio as a pilot scheme for FairTunes. They were invited by 'Por Nuestros Medios' (a media communications school that runs workshops in the impoverished Ciudad Bolivar area) to the south of the city to build a studio where they could operate and work with local musicians. The trip itself and the studio that was built will act as a model for future FairTunes projects.

October 2009 saw the first Fairtunes launch party, held in North West London, and supported with live music from I'CHELMEE (SOCIAL MISFITS), SOUL OF MAN, ATOMIC HOOLIGAN, CRYSTAL FIGHTERS, ZASHIKI WARASHI, and hosted by Chandrasonic of Asian Dub Foundation

If you would like to support Fairtunes in their eforts, please send me an email outlining your interest to naomi[at]naomiblume.com

Tulips for Juleps Silent Art Auction & 2010 Calendar

www.tulipsforjuleps.com

November 4, 2009, Root Studios, Brooklyn, NYC

Coordinating with Brooklyn's community of artists, artisans, and taste-makers to help bring together an amazing night of art and entertainment to raise funds for the much beloved Juliet Dostalek. Severely injured in a devastating motorcycle accident, Juliet is a cherished and prominent member of our distinguished arts community and has inspired all around her. Her strength, caring, and creativity have made her a profound force, both in art and friendship.

Previously unconnected creative moguls join forces to present a silent art auction to raise funds for Juliet's recovery. From painters to photographers, industrial designers to jewelry designers, we are proud to present an evening of exceptional art, drinks, and entertainment in Juliet's honor and to her exclusive benefit.

Simone & Amadeo of Blonde Redhead, and Lauren Flax of Fischerspooner will grace us with music, Asahi provides us with drink, and Saltie shares delicious treats along with steaming Oslo coffee.

And now a first for Brooklyn's Works Engineering (www.worksengineering.com) - their first ever all male all nude calendar, created to raise money for Juliet.
